I'd like to share a recent testimony from one of my clients. She came to me only wanting her upper body worked on. She had horrible pain in her shoulders and neck. She was very adamant that I only work that area. She was used to getting a massage about one time a year when her pain was excruciating. She wanted deep tissue, fully expecting to be "beat up". She had also fore warned her husband she would be going straight to bed once she got home because she would be "beat up" so badly. This is what she was used to.
As she is lying on the table, I start off by massaging her shoulders and neck. I start evaluating the pain complaint immediately, which includes much more than the neck and shoulders. I quickly determine there is another more important area needing work. So after a few minutes, I move to the low back and buttocks. I explain why I am there and why it is necessary for me to work there. She understands the logic, and agrees I should do the work in that area. As I do what I feel is necessary, she reveals a pain in the area she had had for 10 years. It came on when she gave birth and never went away. Before long, I had relieved that pain! At the end of the treatment, she was amazed. She had none of her presenting pain complaints. The pain she had had for 10 years was gone as well. But the most amazing thing to her was testimony. 1. I didn't hurt her at all, and yet all the pain was gone! 2. She felt energized. She actually felt she could NOT go to bed when she got home! 3. I had pretty much ignored the neck and shoulders and yet relieved the pain completely. We set an appointment for the following week to actually do the work needed in the neck and shoulders. I love my job! I love helping people to feel better!
