Frequently asked questions:

What is corrective bodywork massage and how is it different from a regular massage?
Corrective Bodywork Massage is an advanced style of therapeutic massage. The focus is on treating specific pain patterns, injuries, and musculoskeletal conditions by getting to the root of muscular pain & dysfunction. This is achieved by using evidence-based techniques such as neuromuscular therapy, trigger point release, and myofascial work to help relieve chronic pain, improve range of motion, and support recovery from injury or surgery. Each session is customized to your body’s needs and often includes an assessment to identify the root cause of your discomfort. This is implemented into all therapeutic massage sessions, making Muscular Injury Specialist the "GO TO" specialist in Clarksville, Tn. Each Corrective Bodywork massage session is private, professional, & tailored to your comfort level. You’ll leave feeling relaxed, restored, & better equipped to move pain-free.
What conditions can corrective bodywork massage help with?
Corrective Bodywork massage can address a wide range of issues including neck and shoulder pain, headaches, migraines, TMJ dysfunction, low back and hip pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, decreased range of motion, and repetitive-strain injuries. It’s also beneficial for athletes recovering from muscle strains or those looking to prevent future injuries. Many clients in the Clarksville and Fort Campbell area get great results with Corrective Bodywork massage as part of a long-term wellness plan to manage pain naturally, improve posture, and support overall mobility.
How often should I get corrective bodywork massage?
The frequency depends on your goals, presenting symptoms, underlying medical or structural issues, and on-going stresses due to work, sports and exercise activities. For acute pain or injury recovery, weekly sessions may be recommended at first. Once symptoms improve, bi-weekly or monthly maintenance appointments help sustain mobility and prevent tension from returning. Your Clarksville massage therapist will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan that fits your lifestyle and budget, whether you’re seeking post-surgical care or ongoing stress relief.
What should I expect during my first visit?
Your first session begins with a short consultation to discuss your health history, current symptoms, and goals for treatment. Michelle will perform an assessment to identify muscle imbalances or trigger points before beginning hands-on work. Short assessments will precede all future treatments to determine the efficiency of the previous session and to discuss any new issues.

You will be asked to undress in private. Underwear can be left on, although Glute and Piriformis muscles (located in the butt ) are typically a big part of Corrective Bodywork massage, and is best performed without underwear. But, as always, it is up to you and what you're comfortable with. It is sometimes determined after the first massage that underwear can be left on for future sessions.
What if I'm uncomfortable
Always speak up! If the pressure is too little or too much, it will be adjusted. If you are too hot, the table warmer can be shut off and a fan turned on. If you're cold, blankets can be added. If you need a bathroom break, there is an available robe, and the bathroom is conveniently right outside the massage room door.

Talking is often necessary during Corrective Bodywork massage sessions. Your massage may be unlike most massages you may have experienced in the past. Clients find it helpful to understand the reasons why I work on areas that often have never been worked on before. As treatments progress, those types of discussions become less necessary. Some clients are chatty, while others would rather keep talk to a minimum. I myself can be very chatty. I do try to pick up on cues when a client wants to relax with minimal talk. But please, always speak up. Something as simple as I'd like to relax today will work!
How long of a massage do I need?
For a first appointment with significant pain, with or without complicating co-factors, I strongly recommend a 90-minute session, (or at least 75 minutes). This extra time allows your muscles to warm up and release gradually with minimal discomfort. My goal is to help each layer of muscle relax slowly so the body doesn't tense up or resist deeper work. This allows your muscles to integrate the work more effectively, leading to longer-lasting results.
prices, Payment options & cancellation policy
Most Credit Cards are accepted. Apple wallet & similar. Cash (Saves credit card processing fees!) Cash App. Venmo.

HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) Before using, you must have a doctor's prescription/Letter of Medical Necessity that includes clinician's information, the diagnosis to verify medical necessity for the massage, and the recommended scope of treatment, including how many sessions, how often, and treatment duration. This should demonstrate that the expense is needed for the treatment or prevention of a specific medical condition or it may not be considered eligible by the IRS. Please be aware that there is a penalty for using your card without these criteria being met.

Cancellations require a 24-hour notice or full payment is required. True emergencies are exceptions to the rule. I may give a one-time pass, as I know things do happen. I am just trying to weed out those who would make a habit of cancelling last minute...... I know, I don't understand that at all! What could be more important than a massage from the Muscular Injury Specialist?!
